RE: Toyota Tundra

If properly set up no reason a Tundra cannot pull fivecodys fiver.... My brother in law pulls a similar set up with his Titan long bed and does just fine. Last year I pulled into Virgina Beach and the fiver next to me had a similar size and set up as the fiver were discussing and it was being pulled by a f150 w/o the the heavy duty package.... got me to think......maybe i can to....

RE: camping on Long Island NY

We to live on LI but do little of it. Cedar Point is great as their is no electric and water.....but the price is right. We usually spend at least a two or three night weekend their every year with local friends. We also go out to Theordore Roosevelt Park in Montauk....on the Beach. Again the price is right - no hook ups...but again the price is right and your feet from the water. Smithpoint State Park is very good as your are obviously near the beach...camping on the beach is a no go. Hither Hills is great..but hard to get a reservation. For Suffork or Nassau thats about it for us....

RE: Pin bracket for WDH - BENT!

If you want it I have an extra bracket that you can have for free. You can't be that far away on Long Island! Please do post the dealer name so we can stay away from it. QCMan; Thank you very much for the bracket!!! Looking forward to installing it tomorrow. I am also going to take you up on your instruction and adjust my hitch tomorrow afternoon in a local parking lot. The TT is packed with the usual goodies for a trip so the weight is real weight. The TV is usually set up with minor necessities so that is fine. Sir Buffalo!!!!!

RE: What do you like to use for leveling?

We had used wood. But we were camping once in Western PA and we had to raise one side of the trailer about 6". did not have enough wood. Went and bought the orange legos. Love them. Now we have two sets. I was always against them. But they are great. My dad laughs at me

RE: Pin bracket for WDH - BENT!

Yes will check out another service center...but I am okay with doing this one myself. Iknow a few guys who do this for a living but live a couple of hours away. I guess if I feel like taking a ride and having a bad cup of coffee with good people it may be worked out.

RE: Should my marker light blink when signaling?

Yes your right if both sides were doing the same...that being said maybe I will install a third light over my dual wheels like the longer trailers.....that would then be similar to bigger rigs.

RE: Pin bracket for WDH - BENT!

I a bent a snap up bracket on my HP Dual Cam setup when I went over a hump in the road outside of my storage yard. I replaced the bent bracket and bolted both brackets to the frame using a single self tapping bolt I got at n/c from Reese tech support. I drilled out the square cutout in each bracket and into the frame with the suggested starter hole for the bolt size. That was last year and so far so good. Another method is to make a 1/8" x 6" x 6" backing plate for the inside of the frame and drill through both sides of the frame and the backplate and use a longer thinner through bolt and locknut. Some folks think this second method is even more secure. I think either method works well. This is what I want to do......I am glad to see I am not the only one. Thanks Guys and Gals.

RE: Pin bracket for WDH - BENT!

I will post pictures....give me a day or two. I have a heavy schedule tomorrow and Friday and the TT is at the dealer. Picking it up on Sat. Yes its the snap up bracket. Yes I to think it happen by a maneuver going into a deep dip and a sharp return back up...makes sense.....but all who have personnaly seen my bracket agreed the bracket would be best served by some self tapping bolts. They want $59 for a replacement bracket.....and wanted half an hour of the shop rate of $125 to install. They made a big deal in removing it. I told the person that removing what, just pick it up without any effort and then just drop the new one on and turn the bolt a few times.... Put it this way my follow up call resulted in a call back..... But little or no acknowledgment that about the bracket other than they will have one for me to install when I pick it up on sat. Note, it is the same dealer re. my prev. post re. the side marker lights....trust me it is not the TV. Cannot be. The WDH is the new model REESE WDH DUAL CAM BUT WILL VERIFY THAT ON SAT. thank you for all your comments as for the name of the dealer let me pick it up first will report back on sAT

RE: Should my marker light blink when signaling?

To check it your self here is a link to a good diagram. 7 Pin hitch stuff These are easy to check. With a jumper wire you can test the trailer connections. And with a test light you can check the truck connections. thank you....i am going to try this.

RE: Should my marker light blink when signaling?

I would like to have blinkers on the side of my tt. Then, if someone is beside me, they can tell I am trying to get over. This could be helpful if you get in thick traffic and see you need to exit soon. Mike Boilermakers Local 592 Your right and the best of all it happens to be on the passenger side.... :)

RE: Should my marker light blink when signaling?

It could be a problem with your TV wiring, the trailer wiring,or the plug connection...If you have a bad ground (anywhere) the power could be back feeding through the system and causing other lights to come on and or blink....The best thing is to have your TV and TT checked at the same time... I once had my tail and blinker fuse blow when I hooked my Horse trailer but it did not blow when I hooked up my toad...Obviously problem with Horse trailer right..... spent a week end looking for the problem in the horse trailer wiring...never found it in the trailer....then once by ancient I found it.... the plug on my MH had a loose pin that would push through and ground out on the plug housing when the Horse trailer was plugged in....but my toads plug was wore more and fit looser and would not push the wire back... Find someone you trust and have them check the hole thing out..TV and TT JMO Agreed. Need to see my mechanic tomorrw...he is honest...we have a fair relationship he will check it out for me I am sure. We to have a horse trailer and have been switching from one to the other this past month....

RE: Should my marker light blink when signaling?

I would agree with you, but and a big but, have you checked to make sure you tail lights are in fact work as there supose to, or are they just lite up and you are assuming the brake and turn are working. Not saying you haven't just wondering if you have. Bill Yup all work well. Actually had to replace one of the bulbs as one happen to have blown when I returned.

RE: Should my marker light blink when signaling?

This ain't rocket science folks!! They obviously tied into the wrong circuit, they tied into your signal circuit and not the running lights. If they can't figure something this simple out I sure wouldn't want them working on my RV. I would just fix it myself. I understand the right think and a matter of Morals but obviously they are idiots and what else can they do to your trailer?? Just back up where they tied into the circuit and undo their connection and tie it into the right one!! NCH Call it my Sat. morning project. I am just frustrated about the whole thing....

Pin bracket for WDH - BENT!

Okay, obviously the guide screw of my pin bracket for my WDH was not tight. Somehow someway the bracket - because it was not tight actually lifted and came to rest on top of the frame, bending during my last trip. The only thing I can think of is that when exiting a gas station their was a low dip that may have lifted the bracket and when it lowered again it actually came to rest on the frame - with the pressure of the WDH pulling down, etc the bracket actually bent. That being said, should the bracket been bolted on to the frame. I clearly remember my last WDH on my 2002 TT was bolted along with the guide screw. I also noticed some were bolted and some were not at the last campground we were at...... What made me loose complete faith in my RV dealership just now is that they try to convince me the bracket is not to be bolted because its suppose to slide back and forth on the frame. I find that completely incorrect....sorry but I am upset. Plus they want to charge me $59.00 for the bracket...knowing its significantly cheaper to purchase on my own and they wanted $125 to install it. Your thoughts....sorry I needed to vent!

Should my marker light blink when signaling?

I cannot make this up.... Last year I purchased my TT (see sig below) The front two marker lights where only reflectors....some said I should just leave it alone so I would have less hassle and other said I should do the right thing and replace them with marker lights as / State law. So I did. A few weeks back the RV Dealer did what I requested at their cost to install the marker lights. Maybe they charged crossroads rv but in the end they did install them. Not really doing me a favor because technically the TT was to have them from the beginning. In any case, I noticed when picking up the TT the marker light on the RV entrance side would blink when signaling and would also go on when braking. So I made an appointment to have it fixed. Just called today and was advised their was nothing wrong, it must be my tow vehicle. How could that be? Same tow vehicle since last year, never a problem. The part that urks me is that a few in the field who I discussed the problem with agreed it's most likely a crossed wire on their part during installation. Agree or disagree? Part two in a seperate post!
